New village defibrillator announced
Sunday, 9 July 2017
Dear Residents
Further to my previous note concerning progress with buying a defibrillator for the village, I am delighted to advise that we now have a Zoll AED Plus (Automatic External Defibrillator), which I have placed in the BT kiosk on Bridge Road. It is registered with the Welsh Ambulance Service, so they know where it is located. Should you need to use it, remember to dial 999 first.
We are currently in process of formally adopting the BT kiosk with the help of the Community Heartbeat Trust, and when this process is complete, which may take up to 3 months, we will be able to install a heated cabinet to store the unit, using the existing electricity there. At that time we will also apply proper signage to make it more obvious for passers by. We will then be able to have a publicity article in the Gem which will also acknowledge everyones support, including the two charities that have helped us, the British Heart Foundation and the Charitable Heartbeat Trust .
We will also arrange training sessions with our community First Responder, Lynne Duance, so that you can see how easy this device is to use.
Thanks to everyone for making this happen!
